By accessing or using the DeranáVitenge website (deranavitenge.com) or placing an order, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services.
These terms apply to all visitors, customers, and users of our website and services.
DeranáVitenge sells handcrafted East African textiles including Dera dresses, Vitenge garments, and Kikoi wraps, as well as raw fabric materials. All products are made by trained artisans in Kenya and sourced from East Africa.
Product images are representative. Due to the handcrafted nature of our goods, minor variations in pattern placement, colour saturation, and stitch detail are normal and not considered defects. We will always clearly describe any significant variation in the product listing.
By placing an order you confirm that:
An order confirmation email does not constitute acceptance of your order. We reserve the right to cancel any order prior to dispatch if the product is unavailable, payment fails, or we suspect fraudulent activity. A full refund will be issued in such cases.
You may cancel or modify an order within 2 hours of placement, provided it has not yet been dispatched. Contact us immediately via WhatsApp for the fastest response.
All prices are displayed in Kenyan Shillings (KES) and include VAT where applicable. Prices may change without notice, but the price at the time of your order is the price you pay.
We accept M-Pesa, Visa, Mastercard, and cash on delivery (Siaya and Kisumu areas only). All card payments are processed through a PCI-DSS compliant gateway. We do not store full card numbers.
For international orders, currency conversion, import duties, and local taxes are the responsibility of the buyer.
Custom-made and made-to-measure orders are non-refundable once production has begun. By placing a custom order, you confirm that the specifications you have provided (measurements, design, fabric choice) are accurate.
We offer free alterations within 60 days of delivery for custom orders. Alterations must be within reasonable scope of the original design — full redesigns are not covered.
AI Design Studio outputs are conceptual visualisations. The final garment may differ from the AI-generated image based on fabric behaviour, tailoring techniques, and artisan interpretation. We will always communicate any significant deviations before commencing production.
We dispatch orders within 1–2 business days of payment confirmation. Delivery timelines are estimates and not guaranteed. See our Shipping Info page for full details on zones and costs.
Risk of loss passes to you upon delivery to the address provided. We are not responsible for items lost or delayed due to incorrect address information provided by the customer.
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all ready-made items. Items must be returned in unworn, unwashed condition with tags attached. See our Returns Policy for the full process.
Refunds are processed within 3 business days of receiving your return. M-Pesa refunds typically arrive within 24 hours; card refunds take 3–7 business days depending on your bank.
The Design Studio uses Google's Gemini image generation API (Nano Banana 2) to create visualisations. By using the Design Studio you agree that:
All content on the DeranáVitenge website — including text, images, logos, design elements, and code — is the intellectual property of DeranáVitenge or its licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use our content for commercial purposes without written permission.
Fabric designs sourced from partner artisans remain the cultural and intellectual heritage of those artisan communities. We are committed to fair attribution and compensation.
To the maximum extent permitted by Kenyan law, DeranáVitenge's liability for any claim arising from use of our website or products is limited to the value of the order in question.
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profit, loss of data, or business interruption.
Nothing in these terms limits your statutory consumer rights under Kenyan consumer protection law.
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Kenya. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered customers and by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of our website after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
